Lead Consultant Analyst
CDS Tech
Background
CDS Tech is the newly formed technology services arm of Bailie Group, a family-owned group of human-centred communications and technology services businesses. With a strong heritage in delivering critical transformation projects, CDS Tech is poised to become the 'go to' professional services partner for Cloud, Security, Data and Digital transformation services – both in the UK and beyond. Underpinned by a People First and Client Obsessed mindset, our ambition is to drive meaningful impact for our clients, their audiences, their users, and society. Societal impact is not just an outcome – it's our north star, guiding everything we do and ensuring we make a lasting, positive difference.
The role
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Lead Consultant Analyst to join our team and help connect business needs with technical solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced business analyst who thrives on delivering complex analytical work, mentoring others, and ensuring client engagements deliver real business value. You'll be a trusted voice for rigorous analysis, clear requirements, and solution designs that balance business value with technical feasibility.
About the role
We are looking for a Lead Consultant Analyst to play a key role in setting the standard for business analysis on client engagements. You will deliver complex analytical work independently, contribute meaningfully to analytical strategy, and mentor less experienced analysts. As a v-shaped professional, you'll maintain your core focus on connecting business and technology whilst flexing into adjacent roles when clients need it.
Responsibilities
• Provide analytical guidance on complex client engagements, contributing to decisions about analytical approaches and requirements strategy
• Lead requirements gathering and analysis, ensuring solutions align with business needs and balance value with technical feasibility
• Build strong stakeholder relationships, facilitate workshops and requirements sessions, and manage expectations across diverse groups
• Bridge the gap between business and technology, translating technical concepts for business stakeholders and business needs for technical teams
• Flex into adjacent roles such as Product Owner, Scrum Master, or Delivery Manager when clients and engagements need it
• Support and mentor other analysts, sharing best practices and helping to raise analytical standards across teams
• Collaborate closely with delivery managers, engineers, testers, and designers to help teams deliver quality outcomes
• Contribute to presales activities, help prepare analytical proposals, and support client discussions to win new work
Skills and experience
Essential
These are the skills that you need to perform the role successfully; however, if you feel you'd be a great fit for the role and CDS from what you have read we would love to hear from you – the skills are written as a guide, not a checkbox exercise:
• Strong ability to gather, elicit, analyse, and validate requirements from diverse stakeholder groups, resolving conflicting requirements effectively
• Experience documenting requirements in multiple formats (user stories, use cases, functional specifications, process models) with clarity
• Solid ability to design solutions that balance business value, technical feasibility, and user needs
• Strong expertise in analysing business processes, identifying inefficiencies, and designing improvements
• Good data analysis skills with experience using tools such as Excel, SQL, or Power BI
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships and manage expectations across diverse groups
• Good technical understanding enabling engagement in technical discussions and the ability to bridge business and technology
• Strong understanding of agile principles and practices with clear, effective communication across technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience coaching and mentoring less experienced analysts, with the ability to flex into adjacent roles (Product Owner, Scrum Master, Delivery Manager)
Desirable
If you have any of these, they are the extra cherry on top that will help you excel:
• Knowledge of user experience principles that enriches requirements gathering
• Experience with advanced analytics or reporting tools, and understanding of how AI/ML can be applied to business problems
• Previous experience delivering projects with Cloudflare
• Understanding of public sector ways of working, procurement, and governance
Why join us
There are many compelling reasons to join our newly formed technology services business, and we'll bring these to life when we meet you during the process. For now, though, we believe the following aspects offer an exciting opportunity for the right candidate...
Shaping the future of CDS Tech – your work will directly impact our brand, market positioning, revenue growth, and success.
Autonomy and ownership – a unique opportunity to own the delivery function and drive real impact for clients and programs of work that genuinely make a positive difference to society.
High-impact partnerships – work with some world-leading, most recognisable technology brands as our partners and position CDS Tech for success.
Competitive package – attractive salary and benefits, meaningful work and genuine opportunities for growth and professional development.
